ADLER HEINRICH wood whistle

I bought one of these in Brittany last week. Nice and light but it gives different fingering for c. 2,3,4,5 holes covered. Anybody else have this whistle and how do you get on with it please?

There is a review in the whistles section.

Check it out here.

There was as a recent thread where they were called “Gael”, IIRC.

Hey Selkie (nice nick, btw)

Myself and several other people (whom I have reason to believe know whistles ) posted reviews of the Weltmeister / Gael / Heinrich whistle. The thread is here:

On a side note, it seems (to me at least) that the Weltmeister is the porridge of the whistle world - it claims many names, but is truly known by few.

Thanks. It’s a lovely weight and has a lovely feel to it. When I first saw it I thought it was a recorder. I like it but still having a problem reaching high notes with it. I assume the wood will’season’ with saliva eventually.Am I right here?

Mine has not aged well. The wood of the tuning slide has cracked (I’m not the only one on the list this has happened to). I’m actually having more trouble hitting the high notes than I did when the whistle was new, and it’s just about impossible to keep them in tune. It’s possible that the crack has led to a small leak, which is causing a problem with the highs, but the whistle has always been out of tune with itself.
