Looks to be Cocus wood, yes? Might help to state that, if true, though some will know just by looking, others may not. Good looking flute!
What, no sexy pictures of chimney depth, for those of us (no, sorry, I haven’t gotten there yet) who find that arousing? 
Hmm, might be but the grain looks too open and the black streaks too prominent. I’m sure the owner will let us know, but I’d guess some sort of Rosewood. Looks like Kingwood, but the grain seems too wavy, and again, looks more porus than the Kingwood I’ve worked and seen, although it could just be the finishing.
Or maybe it’s one of those Aussie woods we do see so often here in the states, doesn’t look like the cocus I’ve run across though.

Exactly - I don’t really see the point of keys for pure drop Irish trad. They do look nice when posing though 
Yes, well, I must try to disagree on that for now, having just received a bunch of keys with some rather expensive… set of holes.
Oh well. I suppose it’s a question of what key(s) one wishes to play in.
But before anything, it’s a matter of preventing the flute from rolling off the table.

I was in Westport for one night in early July. Think it was Tuesday or Wednesday, Willie Week was still on.

Yep, those are the dates. I dropped by Matt Molloy’s. It was terribly crowded, I hardly could trespass the hall door and no space at the musicians corner. I think there was Ruadhrai O’Kane at the fiddle amongst others.

It’s funny just how crowded it tends to get at Matt Molloy’s. We came in early so got good seats. All the sudden it became awfully hard to walk to the bar to get drinks.
Definitely we got there too late. We had a long walk over Croagh Patrick (didn’t reach the top) and were tired and hungry. When we arrived, the room was full of enthusiastic listeners not very willing to give their seat although some of them were sitting at the musician’s.
Yet no problem, I enjoyed the music, beer and the warm hospitality of some locals.
*Edit to add that I should try one of those Hammys. What a session beast!
