A Happy, Healthy, Safe, Fullfilling New Year To All

From the Osattin household, the very best to you all, and hopefully better things to come. In our tradition, we will be at home this evening watching an on demand movie and feasting on lobster, angel hair pasta, ice cream and champagne. We went the opposite extreme today to counteract House of Sand and Fog, and saw the happy funny Something’s Gotta Give. Tomorrow, hopefully, The Return of the King. As we noted, from death of substantial realistic human beings, to no death and happy endings, on into many deaths of unreal beings (including Orcs and the like).

If you go out, please be safe. Enjoy yourselves and each other and rise to a new year, with promise of peace.

God bless.

PhilO

Happy New Year to you too, Phil, and thanks for the mini film review. I go out of my way to avoid unhappy movies, and if the reviews hadn’t sufficed, your synopsis certainly did! I will definitely plan to see Something’s Gotta Give.

Warning: maudlin New Year thoughts follow.

Thanks for all your funny and other (including actual whistle topics) posts this year Phil. Like many on the ol Forum, you are lots of fun.

Best wishes for safer, saner '04, here and abroad. I am ready to kiss this sucker (03) goodbye…

All the best from Whistler’s Highlands,

The Weekender

PS. Further warning: I feel a rash of Best of Chiffy Posts 2003, etc coming on…I will try to lay down and avoid creating any new Threads, but I could be tempted to participate…

PPSS: Here’s the Toast to the New Year song off of “An Irish Christmas”

Come fill up your glasses / with whisky and beer
Here’s to your health and / lots of good cheer
To our sisters and brothers / and may they live long
Come fill up your glasses /and join in this song

A toast to the farmers / who work on the land
Who live where their work is / and toil while they can
To the teachers and the carpenters / and the bold engineers
May your wages keep risin’ / over the years

Long life to the miners / the whole world around
Who spend all their days in / a hole underground
Whose road is a tunnel / and day is the night
Out of darkness and danger / they bring heat and light

To the artists and writers / let’s now drink a health
The people whose hopes and / whose joys are our wealth
Whose tools are on canvas / and paper and pen
Whose harvest is our future / the progress of men

Let the men drink a health to / their sweethearts and wives
The women being willin’ / will drink them likewise
May your pleasures be many / and your troubles be few
May you treasure the day you / made one out of two

Lend strength to our children / and let us prepare
A world where they live free / of sorrow and care
A world where goodwill amongst men’s a law
A world without Fallout / a world without War

Happy, Creative, Loving, New Year to all you lads and lasses!
Or, as Stacey would put it, may yer pipe long reek !
