Over here in Europe we’re already there. So here’s a “Happy New Year” to all the folks on C&F, wherever you are. May it be a good one, a year of peace, of love and lots of music.

Happy New Year to all,
This was a favorite quote from the last person executed in the state of Nebraska, Robert Williams, who on death row changed his life and touched the lives of many like a “pebble thrown in a still pool of water.” It speaks of hope for the next moment and the next year.
(excuse the gender language, the quote is from the 1950s)
“He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose.”
my whistle has taught me how to, at least occasionally “be still and know.”

The origin of this quote is from Jim Elliot, who was killed while working as a missionary, trying to bring the Gospel to the Auca (sp?) Indians. Though he and some others of his team were killed, their wives carried on the work, and many in that tribe came to hear the Gospel through his life and testimony. Another example of one life bringing light to a dark world… Thanks for sharing it! ![]()
Er, Well… I just dropped in on this thread to wish eveyone one a Happy New Year, but this talk of executed inmates and murdered missionaries doesn’t really fit with the happy thoughts I was going to try to express. Guess I’ll just move on. But not before saying “Thanks for getting my New Year off to gruesome start” Geeze…
Loren
from the snow bound hills of Northumbria may I wish each and every one of you the best wishes for this New Year.
May I also thank you all for help and tips and links to good sites.
But Then Every Day Is A Happy New Year!
And a happy new year to you too, Loren…
My son was watching the Wiener Philharmonic’s New Year’s concert on television this morning. Suddenly he said: ‘they have an awful lot of fiddles in that session, but I can’t see where the concertinaplayers are’
Happy new year to you all!
A very peaceful and prosperous New Year to you, Claus, and all my good friends at Chiff and Fipple.

Happy New Year, everyone! ![]()
Here’s a new year poem from my new favorite poet:
Having come to this place
I set out once again
On the dark and marvelous way
From where I began:
Belief in the love of the world,
Woman, spirit, and man.
Having failed in all things
I enter a new age
Seeing the old ways as toys,
The houses of a stage
Painted and long forgot;
And I find love and rage.
Rage for the world as it is
But for what it may be
More love now than last year.
And always less self-pity
Since I know in a clearer light
The strength of mystery.
And at this place in the ways
I wait for song,
My poem-hand still, on the paper,
All night long.
Poems in the throat and hand, asleep,
And my storm beating strong!
