A few whistles (and shakuhachi) for sale/trade

I’ve got a few whistles here that I’m interested in selling or trading. I’m looking mostly for something in the key of Bb, low F, or low G, but any offers would be entertained. I also wouldn’t mind combining several of these for a relatively higher-end whistle. Click on the thumbnails for a larger picture.

  • Black Enameled Feadog D - SOLD

Some people recommended it, so last month when I saw one on the shelf at a local music store I got one. It’s nice and all, but doesn’t do anything special for me. This one is semi-tunable out of the box, and I did the little putty tweak. I’d like to trade it for an Oak if anyone’s interested.

Sunreed Bamboo Shakuhachi - SOLD

I’ve got mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, I wish I had more time to learn this instrument. On the other, it’s a gift from an ex-girlfriend who I’d rather forget. Either way, I figure it would be better off in the hands of someone more eager for it.

It’s got a terrific sound once you get the hang of it. Read up on shakuhachi here.

Mid-East Nickeled Brass Low D - SOLD

It’s got a nice mellow tone, good for playing at night. The stretch of a low D is a bit much for me though, so I’m moving to a higher key for now. A Clarke D is shown for size comparison.

Village Smithy D - SOLD

Read up on it here. Chrome molybdenum steel whistles for manly men who like a breathy tone. Play it or use it in a bar brawl, your choice. Also, it’s the newer one with the brass fipple block mentioned below.

Shipping is a flat $5 to the lower 48 whether you want one of them or all of them, unless you want to work something else out with a trade. Contact me here via PMs or at fenguin@yahoo.com. Paypal is fine, but I can also do money orders.

Hehe, Bill, that Village Smithy page just won’t die!
I have a V.S. myself, it’s one of my favourite whistles. I don’t think Bill makes them anymore (unless you kidnap one of his cats, but i can’t vouch for these tatics in a family-oriented board such as this one). Anyway, he makes a steel and brass version now, but the old whole steel nontunable model is the peak of coolness.

Any more info about the Shaku? Model, key, etc?

For reference, here’s Sunreed:

Too right, Glauber! I wonder if the one being sold is the square-head model… if so, and it’s too airy, whomever buys it can send it to me for tweaking - just cost you round-trip postage. If it’s the newer one with the solid brass fipple, I can probably tweak that, too, but it’s a slightly trickier operation. Still, no charge but RT shipping.
Happy holidays!
