6 or 8 hole, what's the diff?

So a person could stick a bit of sponge in the end to catch all of the “condensation”?

Cheers,
Aaron

I would suspect that the major difference preceived at the players position is due to the different directivities of the sound radiotion, between the confuigurations. This difference is probablymuch harder to notice if you are listening to someone else playing different flutes.

The other day I played my Tipple 6-hole in an anechoic chamber, which felt very strange especially when playing the low D, since it is mostly radiating away from the player then.

I just completed a comparison sound level test, playing my 6-hole and 8-hole flutes under identical conditions. The sound level meter has an accuracy of 1.5 decibels, and played notes were sampled throughout the two octave range. The results indicate that there is no significant difference in the sound level produce by the flutes. I expected the larger flute to produce a louder sound, but evidently I was wrong about that.
