WTB: Sindt D

After being off this site for waaaaaaay too long, and not having had much time or the ability to keep up my whistle playing, I would like to get back into playing. I’m looking for a well loved Sindt high D. Thanks

John

I think the whistle gods have smiled upon me …

Nope … the whistle gods giveth and the whistle gods taketh away!!

Still looking …

OKAY!!! Be that way stingy, stingy people!!!

I sent off an email to Mr Sindt himself and ordered a brand new, never been slobbered on whistle. Now I only have to check my mailbox every day for the next SIX MONTHS before it comes. :stuck_out_tongue:

John

You will not be sorry. Now be still and wait.

I just talked to him about a week ago and he said it was about a 3 month waite!

A little less time by the mailbox!!

Of course you could get a Humphry while you are waiting for the Sindt just so you’ll have somthing good to practice on! I think his waite varies.

Cheers!

Nate

Believe me, it’s worth the waiting. It’s a beauty. It’s just what players say: it’s like a traditional cheapie, but so much more perfected that it also cannot be compared to a cheapie. I just bought one and it’s a real winner. It’s traditional, it’s pure, it’s got just enough backpressure, not too much in the second octave. A must-have!

It’s not like I NEEEEED a new whistle. I have a collection of Overtons and Burkes that I can’t live without, and various others as well.

I just took a break for a few years and learned to play the Uilleann pipes and the GHBs. I just decided that, to encourage me to get back into playing regularly, I needed a new whistle or two.

I’ve lusted after the Sindts and Abells for many years now and thought I would kick things off with a new Sindt. Oddly enough, I’ve never had a desire to play a Copeland or O’Riordan.

The list of whistles on the market has grown at least 3 or 4 times since I was last on and the prices have gone up considerably too!!! Hopefully WHOA won’t hit me for a long time yet.

John

We have a D and an Eb and we love 'em. A guy from my daughter’s school (who is a very talented musician) had been trying to get by with playing a well known cheapie. But as someone else mentioned here recently, it “squoinked.”

We loaned him her Sindt. The poor lad almost lost his mind…

If it’s any consolation, our D only took four months and a week.

If you have Overtons and Burkes, Sindt is a very nice whistle to have, because it’s something completely different. It’s softer, but also more traditional. It’s very much like the Overton a whistle of its own.
