Would like to trade nice Anglo Concertina for nice flute

I built an extra 30 button c/g Anglo concertina that I will be sending to a juried craftsperson competition this month. I thought perhaps I would trade it for a flute when the competition is completed.

Both my wife and daughter are playing the concertina now, better than I! So I have been assigned the flute players position in our little ceili band.

Here is a link to a similar instrument with an extra drone key for your perusal

I sell this general style for about $2150.00

I hope I can find a nice contemporary keyed flute but I will certainly entertain the notion of a keyless flute.

My thanks to Dale for the loan of a Casey Burns folk flute which has been my constant companion for this summer. You can have it back later, Dale.

Lovely !

You should certainly be able to get a nice 4-key in exchange…maby someone who has gone to more keys ??

(Naturally I don’t have anything like that at the moment…DARN!)

You might contact some of the makers directly. Several of them make nice 6-key flutes for that ball park give or take a bit. I know Copley is in that range.

Also, Grey Larsen, a noted concertina player and fluter, sells flutes on his website with no waiting period. He may have something and be interested in a swap. In any event Grey is connected to both the serious flute players and the serious concertina players. He may be a good resource. Check out his website for an email address.

Doc

I might entertain the possibility of a keyless flute swap. Just how useful is a C/G for ITM?

Kevin Krell

C/G with 30ish buttons is the standard in ITM.

Thanks for the responses.

I could order a flute, but I have little ability to delay gratification. I hate waiting.

I do, however expect my customers to wait for their concertinas. Life can be unfair.

There is typically about a three to six month wait for a Tedrow concertina, depending on how clever the design. Not this month though.
