What version are you using? I don’t see this in version 9.0.

OK, I upgraded to version 10 and found this option, but it doesn’t seem to have any effect. I can’t change the speed. Do you have any add-ins installed?
Bob
I have the functionality that Jack referred to on my 2004 Windows XP version of Media Player. I notice that it doesn’t appear to work for .wav files, but .mp3 files work OK.
I might add the Glauber sounds pretty good playing Bach at X 1.4 speed.
Thanks Doug. It works on MP3’s, but not on a music CD.
Bob
This goes in version 9.0 too!
I don’t have it on my wmp 9.0, I checked for updates and it said that I had all available updates…I found a patch that does it, but they expect you to buy it after your trial use…
Bob, if you copy the cd to your hard drive it should work.
Thanks! I didn’t think of doing that since I have the CD and I don’t have any separate MP3 players. I assume it’s legal to copy tracks from CDs you own to your PC as long as you don’t make them available to others.

Both of my windows media players don’t have this function, (I have one on a windows 2000 machine and on an xp machine I just bought).
I just found out that my DVD player (Intervideo WinDVD) can play sound files and can slow down the file without changing the pitch and it also has the ability to change the pitch…this came in handy when I was playing along with the Wooden flute obession cd. Those guys that play in Eb or F can now play in any key…
i use winamp 5.x and a really simple plugin called “Slow me down” … up to 70% supposedly, and separate pitch changing. I haven’t verified that number, but it certainly does enough for me. And it’ll work on CDs as well. I’m using XP, so am not sure the functionality crosses to 2000 and Win98.
