Greetings,
New this year, Skip Healy’s Wind On The Bay Flute Festival will offer two whistle classes taught by Skip Healy and John Skelton. Both classes will take place on Sunday, October 3.
Wind On The Bay does accept individual class registrations, so if you’re in the area and want to take just take the whistle classes, then we can accommodate you. You can also hang out for our fifth annual Concert On The Lawn featuring all the Wind On The Bay teachers and a lot of other local talent. Here are the whistle class descriptions:
Tin Whistle with a Kick [Skip Healy]
This whistle class is geared towards all skill levels and will concentrate on ways to add flourish, flair, and ornamentation to your current repertoire of whistle tunes. Whether you want to add few new tricks or come up with a style that “whistles outside the box”, this class if for you. Format: question/answer plus student participation (solo and group). Students are encouraged to bring recording devices & notepaper.
Tin Whistle for Flute Players [John Skelton]
When you switch from playing flute to whistle, a lot stays the same…but a lot changes as well. In this class, students will “learn by doing” as John explains how to make a smooth transition from flute to whistle. This class is suited for students who A) only play flute but want to add whistle to their instrument repertoire; B) already play both instruments but want to improve their style; C) want to switch from playing flute as a primary instrument to playing whistle as a primary instrument. Students will learn by ear and tape recorders are encouraged.
Cheers,
John
