Willy Clancy Recordings

I was wondering if there are any recordings of Clancy available that I don’t have.

I have Pipering Of Willy Clancy 1&2, The Minstrel From Clare LP, And the Drones and Chanters 1.

Thanks for your help

I love anything Clancy too.

Check this out on Pat’s web site:

You’re kidding, right? You are right at NPU headquarters and you’re asking us?

Commercially that I know of, there’s the ones you’ve listed, plus some Gael Linn recordings on albums called Seolta Séidte.

From Folktrax there’s The West Wind with Bobby Casey (FTX173).

He appears on several of the Folkways albums from the Smithsonian: Traditional Music of Ireland Vol 1 (FW 8781) and Vol 2 (FW 8782), Irish Jigs, Reels and Hornpipes (FW 6819).

There’s the RTÉ story Life & Music of Willie Clancy which gets repeated by Peter Browne every so often.

Then there’s all the private recordings of him that you can get from members at NPU, such as Pat Mitchell’s recording of him playing in Friel’s Pub, Dec '72, and I’m sure there’s many more. There’s a few recordings of him available in NPU’s on-line archives, but if you ask around NPU there’s lots more.
