Paul De Grae on the Irtrad-l. notifies the following:
Those with access to RTE radio might be interested to know of two
programmes to be broadcast tonight (7th September). In “Grace Notes” at 8:00pm on Lyric FM
Mi/chea/l O/ Su/illeabha/in is in conversation with Jackie Daly for an
hour, and at 10:00pm on Radio 1 Peter Browne presents “Lashings of Music”,an hour-long documentary on Willie Clancy.
I would like to capture this show but don’t know how to do this in real player.
somebody has an idea?
(i don’t have a tape recorder plugged into the pc)
carel
You have to cheat. Route the line_out ports on your PC’s sound card to the line_in ports. If you only have mic_in on your sound card, you may have to get a line-to-mic converter. Record with whatever software you normally use to record sound on your PC. Edit to taste.
BTW I am in EDT, so 10:00 pm Dublin is 5:00 pm here. If you’re not sure of your time zone differences, here’s a handy site to have: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
Are you sure his name is Peter Browne?, I can’t find any repeat shows with the name lashings of music, or Peter Browne,or Willy Clancy, How ever there is a Vincent Browne whom has a show at 10 o’clock is he the chap who has the show,
Gor blimey!! I forgot to listen, was at the dojo. So I just hope the program will turn up in the RTE archives later. There’s some nice concertina playing and singing on the current Late Session.
The “Lashings Of Music” programme on Willie Clancy
which was broadcast on Tuesday 7th September is not
available online, as it was a once-off programme and is
not part of our regular schedule.
If you were interested in hearing the programme, you
can apply to our Sound Library who have a programme-
copy service. You will find further details on their
webpage - www.rte.ie/radio/miss.html
Thanks for your interest and best wishes.
RTÉ Radio 1
Cheers Pat for getting the recording, Fantastic, I can listen to programs like that all night and day, seems he was a very nice fella from what his friends and musians had to say about, sure was a magical piper, I also heard he was a good reedmaker as well, a very tallented gentleman,
I would like to hear more programs on these great pipers and musians, like Leo Rowsome, Johnny Doran, Seamus Ennis, I’m sure there are plenty more tales of these chaps of the old days, can’t wait for the next one. all the best Pat.
Your dreams can be realized sooner than you think reedman with three easy payments of $13.99 you too can listen to these interviews that are now byegone! … but seriously… there are shows on all these pipers on my site on the Radio page… if you have the time to browse it that is
