Hi. I know some folks from the whistle board said they were going to East Durham next week. Is anyone from the flute side going? I’m taking Paul McGrattan’s class in the a.m., and Mike Rafferty’s in the p.m. (yeah, I know, what was I thinking??!!). I’m staying at the Carousel.
It would be fun to meet people from the board in person…hope to see some of you there!

I’ll be there from Wednesday til Saturday, just hanging out with friends and playing in sessions, no classes for me this year.
There’ll be a wealth of wonderful flute players at East D. this year, apart from McGrattan and Rafferty, there’s Jimmy Noonan, Frank Claudy, Mike McHale, John Skelton, Kieran O’Hare, Linda Hickman, Siobhan Kelly, and I’m pretty sure John Blake will be there too (he’s touring with John Carty as his guitarist, but he’s a truly excellent flute player as well). Flute heaven, I’d say.
I don’t look much like my picture anymore…same amount of hair but redistributed (less on top of head, more on the bottom), but I still wear glasses (no, not THOSE glasses).
Grumble I, alas, will not be going. I blew all my vacation time for a trip to Ireland.
I will sorely miss it, I had a fantastic time last year and my flute playing jumped to a whole new level, which isn’t hard when starting in the basement. :roll: It wasn’t just the classes, it was also spending a week living, breathing, talking, thinking and playing flute.
Next year, without a doubt.

Like Brad, I’ll be there Wed thru Sat, no classes this year. This will be my 3rd year at East Durham and although I’ll miss the classes, it will be nice to just hang out with friends and just soak up the atmosphere.
