Whistles in Films: Swiss Family Robinson

I caught a glance at this film over Christmas, and there’s one scene where the older son plays a whistle he’s made from bamboo.

It looks about the size of a low G, but he’s playing wrong-hand-up, and obviously not actually playing. Still, nice to see a whistle!

The Disney version, starring John Mills, right?

No, I think it was another version. At least I didn’t see John Mills in it, but then I wasn’t really watching, just flicking channels. One of those annoying habits you can really develop when you live alone.

I’ll check the TV guide!

Actually, I kind of think that it becomes a more annoying habit when one doesn’t live alone. I was single for many years and never was concerened about flipping channels-

now that I am “happily not alone” I sometimes find the channel flipping thing annoying when the wife does it- as I’m sure that she does when I do the same.

All the Best, Tom

In The Devil’s Own, with Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford, there’s a guy playing a blue top Gen in the dancing scene after the girl’s confirmation.

And in Road to Perdition, at the beginning of the movie, there’s a similar scene, just for a second, of a band playing, and one of them seems to be playing a low whistle. It’s only on screen for a second, though, and it’s hard to tell for sure.

Hi Tom,

that’s what I meant  - you develop it in solitude, but it’s annoying to other people! I rarely annoy myself when flipping channels.

Hello: Sorry for the mis-understanding. I guess I was just being dense.
