Whistles in the Movies/Theater

How many references to whistles in motion pictures or theatrical productions can you think of? I can think of three: “Give a Little Whistle” (probably a Gen. G) from Pinocchio, “Whistle While You Work” (but not if you’re a truck driver) from Snow White, and “I Whistle a Happy Tune” (like “Smash the Windows”) from The King and I. Any others?

how about Whistle Down The Wind the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical

heh…I thought you were goign to ask about whistling in movie theaters.

Well, it’s not in the title, so it isn’t in the imdb.com links, but I always think of Lauren Bacall telling Bogart “You know how to whistle, don’t you? You just put your lips together and blow.”

blackhawk, I knew that quote, but I didn’t know where it was from!

Amar, it’s from the movie To Have and Have Not. Bogie and Bacall fell in love during the making of it, got married (after his divorce) and stayed married until his death. She was 19, he was 44. Ah, the life of a movie star.

you’re right, the life of a movie star, to have it, or to have it not..

No, I never heard of that one.

I didn’t think so, Dewhistle. (yes, I get it)

I was thinking of actual whistle tunes in movies. Like…

Gift of a Thistle, whistle theme of William and 'is Beloved in Braveheart.

(Cautionary italics above to slow down us folks that tend to move our lips when we read)

Or how about that most infamous of whistle-based movie themes - “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”? Actually, I heard they used an ocarina, but it sounds great on a Generation D. If I can work out the guitar and bodhran parts, I’ll put it on Clips & Snips. I don’t think Ennio would mind.
