Whistles for trade

I’ve been giving a lot of thought about whistles I’ve gotten for review. I don’t really feel right selling them, even though technically they’re mine. (I know some folks have sold whistle they’ve been given for review…this is not a condemnation of those people.)

But after thinking about it quite a bit, I came to the conclusion that I was perfectly fine, morally speaking, trading whistles for other whistles that I could review. This will help keep me working on reviews, and keep my wallet from being too empty.

These are the whistles I have available (in no particular order)

  • None

I’m not offering up the Chieftain NR low D, because I want to keep it for session. Nor am I offering up the Feadogs, because in making them tunable, I cracked both their heads, though if you really wanted to trade for them, that’s OK too. That’s the sum of all the ‘free whistles’ I’ve gotten.

These are the whistles I have yet to review

  • Alba (any but SE, which I have reviewed already)
  • Humphrey
  • Desi Seery
  • Burke Viper or Composite
  • Sindt
  • Harper
  • Laughing Whistle
  • Sullivan
  • Swayne
  • Rose
  • Lark
  • Weltmeister
  • Silkstone Alloy
  • Parkhurst
  • Bleazey
  • Elf Song
  • Lon Dubh

There are some whistles that aren’t on the list, like Abell, that I currently own, but have not yet reviewed, so I don’t need to trade for them. Note also there are whistles here I used to own (Silkstone, Laughing, Dixon), but sold before I started reviewing regularly.

Really, I’d consider any reasonable trade offer…if you have a Dixon and wanna trade it for a Mellow Dog or the Syn, for instance, that’d be great. Please, though, be reasonable. I would prefer not to trade $200 whistles for $20 whistles  I might trade $200 whistles for $150 or even $100 whistles, though. Can’t hurt to ask.

(all whistles are spoken for, and have been removed. I have a line of 3 possibles for the Songbird, so I assume it will be spoken for and have taken it off the list as well.)

Hi Wanderer,

I don’t have any that are on your to-review list. But I don’t see anything wrong with selling the ones you have already reviewed, and then using that cash to invest in ones you haven’t. That would be another way to work the trade, if you have some that are hard to match with would-be traders.

I for one really appreciate your thorough reviews.

Jennie

I’ve already had someone offer to buy one of the whistles..I just don’t feel quite right about that. Intellectually, I suppose there’s nothing wrong with it. Emotionally, however, I just don’t feel right doing it.

On a side note..the Mellow Dog is already gone

Water Weasel, and Sweetheart are also spoken for, and have been removed.

Kerry Songbird and O’Brien #315 have been removed.

Have you removed the appropriate desired whistles from your list too?

Check your email for a crazy offer. :astonished:

Man IDAwHOa if you tryin to get the same whistles I am…

Yup..I sure am…scrutinize the list for a surprise

What did you have to trade to get an Abell?

Lol, Abell wasn’t on the original list…I bought Teri K’s blackwood one back in February.

But something equally shocking was on the list that now is not

Also, Jubilee and Hoover are spoken for

Hmm, which could it be then? You said you weren’t holding your breath- I give up.

A kind soul has offered to loan me their concert D/C O’Riordans for a month or so..

:open_mouth:

It all makes sense to me now.

The last O’Brien is gone, leaving only the Syn and the Jerry-tweaked Shaw.

It suprises me nobody has gotten the Syn yet.

me too. a very good whistle. maybe nobody has thought of what they could trade for. whistle trading can be fun!! I only have a few whistles I’d be ready to offer up for trade, and the biggest one might be spoken for, but not as a trade. I have a Chieftain gold low F that I don’t play much at all, and the only reason I keep it so far is that it’s a gold, there aren’t many around, it sounds good, and I figure as our home remodel slows down, maybe I’ll have more time to play it. Then there’s the Original Clarke (untweaked) that I got new, and just don’t play it, and don’t really feel like tweaking it.

A couple of people actually asked about the Syn, but they were offering stuff that I had already made trades for (gotta be quick! this was in the first day) A couple of people who had stuff I wanted (but couldn’t trade, because what they wanted was already gone) already had Syn’s…

And so that’s how it goes

It’s a great whistle, but there’s not much on my list at the moment (except maybe a Weltmeister) that falls into it’s price range.

I would trade it and the Jerry-tweaked Shaw together, too, if someone were interested. Perhaps for something like an Elfsong, Sindt (hey, it could happen!), Humphrey, Laughing, or something in the 80 dollarish range. But realistically, it seems unlikely that folks who like the whistles I just listed would trade them for a Syn and a Shaw  Of course, I can always hope that someone has one that doesn’t quite fit them, and is looking for something different.

Syn and Shaw are spoken for
