Whistle Trade

Well now, I want a Shaw low F or D. (thanks alot Jerry this is trouble), and I want to trade for it. So …just what whistle or flute would you want???

Tom

OK fine then. Here are my trade goods or at least some of them:
Water Weasel in D and one in A. Very good condition and totaly fun whistles

Dixon Combo low D whistle and flute head.

Bamboo flute key of F by Erik the flute maker. Very loud, big holes

Bamboo flute in the key of Bb. (high Bb) Concert pitch and smells great.

Cooperman fife, Bb rosewood what can I say it`s a fife.

There may be others but some more soul searching is required. But hey this is good stuff

Tom

I think there just aren’t that many Shaw low Fs and Ds around, Blackbeer.

Ya I think you may be right Blackhawk. I just thought I would give it a try before I break my vow of poverty and break out the plastic. Ive never played a Shaw until Jerry sent me one of his and Ralphs specials, a high D and I realy like it. Got some big holes to play around with. Oh well Ill give it another day or two to see what happens.

Tom

If I had one, I’d swap you for a Weasel – I had to sell my WW to buy the Burke I wanted so badly. I love the Burke, but I do miss the Weasel (as I knew I would). So it goes. I console myself with the FT job I’ll start in September, which translates to money for whistles!

Hope you find one. Did you also post on gaeliccrossings, just in case?

Tery

Nope I didnt Tery. Good idea. I know what you mean about post whistle trade disease. I love everything about the WW but for some reason I just dont play it much anymore. If it goes I know I will miss it but as they say nothing is permanent

Tom

Some whistles must go that others might come.

But those that go may yet come again.

Doc

I have known that to happen.

Tom,

I’ve tweaked two Shaw low D’s, and it improved them greatly, but even tweaked, they’re not better than other low D’s you could get for about the same money. If, on the other hand, someone already has a Shaw low D, having it tweaked would be well worthwhile.

I haven’t yet tweaked a low F Shaw, but I’ve done Shaw low G’s and A’s, and they come out almost magical. My recommendation would be for you to get a Shaw low F and send it to me. As part of the trade we’ve got going offline, I’ll be happy to tweak it for you at no charge. The best prices for Shaws I know of are at www.elderly.com .

That sounds good to me Jerry. The F is what I`m realy looking for. My low D whistle is a flute.

By the way the WW in A is gone.

Tom

Havin some fun now

I remember the olden days when Tom first started posting here and felt so guilty about all the whistles he was getting. lol - you’d hardly recognize him now!

Susan

I’ve got a D Water Weasel I’d be willing to trade to you. Drop me a private message if interested. In a couple hours I’ll be away from the board and email until July 7th. Gonna go camping in this 119 degree weather. Good thing the humidity is only at around 50% :astonished:

“well melt my susato, it’s a warm one!”

Mark V.

Well jeez Susan I didnt know what I wanted. I was lost in a world of sparkleys. and I was having so much fun. My taste just got simpler, and I like clunky whistles. And when my Lehart gets here in Oct. Ill probably like ever clunkier whistles :boggle:

Tom

He’s right on that one. I think they charge $75 for a Shaw low D. I used to have one and now I miss it. I really liked it a lot. I sold it and bought a brass Howard. But, the Shaw has a really ethereal tone, even though some hate Shaws. My Shaw A is a great whistle.
