whistle stores in Atlanta and/or Nashville

My wife and I are driving to Atlanta
at the end of Dec to attend the Eastern
Division Meetings of the American Philosophical Association. Little
could be worse than thousands of professional
philosophers in an enclosed space (the
smell alone defies description, especially
if it rains) and we are wondering if
there are any music stores in Atlanta or
Nashville which are good for whistles?
Just to stay in touch with what
matters…

I make most of my purchases online through the Whistleshop so I have not looked very hard for stores in the Atlanta area.Mars Music has a very limited selection.Acorns and Clarkes(no Sweetones) are the only ones on their website.

There’s a little irish shop up in Helen GA where I saw some. This is about 2 hours north of Atlanta and is a fun place to go if you are looking to get out of the city. Its a long drive for a $6 whistle.

I buy mine off of the web, and have had a good experience with Tayberry music. I chose them in part because they are not too far away and they shipped my whistles very fast…ordered on Saturday, got them on Wednesday.

I have not searched the Atlanta area for a music store with whistles.

I’ve searched Atlanta for good places for whistles…and there aren’t really any. Mars Music (as mentioned above) only has Clarkes (C only) and Acorns and depending on who’s behind the counter, chances are you’ll get a sales person who doesn’t know what a whistle is. The only other option I know of is Ken Stanton Music. They actually know what whistles are and can tell you a bit about them. They have Clarkes and two others that I can’t remember…they’re probably your best bet. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I’ll just
have to drink myself into a stupor.

There are no decent whistle shops in Nashville, but there is a nice Irish music community there. Also, my whistles are available for viewing and trying.

Immensely kind of you, Jessie! We must
see what our schedule will be and where
we are supposed to be when. I’ll e mail
you later if it’s doable and see if it’s
OK for you. Many thanks.

Jim,
If you’re traveling to Atlanta and/or
Nashville you should consider a side
trip to visit us (SUSATO) Kelischek
Workshop. We’re 2 hours east of
Chattanooga, TN and 2 hours north
of Atlanta. We have a showroom/store open
to the public with mostly our whistles
but we have other whistles here as
well and I’d be happy to give you a
quick tour of the manufacturing facilities
as well. Let me know if you decide to
come by and I’ll get you some directions.

Kelhorn Mike (SUSATO)

Thanks, Mike, great idea. I’ll
run it by the boss, I mean, my wife.
