I want to design my own bag but don’t seem to be able to buy the Black foam backed Canvas material anywhere. Does anybody know of a UK supplier please?
Tony Dixon (http://www.tonydixonmusic.co.uk/) uses it for the whistle / flute bags he sells for his instruments. Maybe he can and will tell you.

I don’t use a bag. A Jameson whiskey tin (or if you in the Borders are really against the Irish stuff you could use a Scotch tin) with lengths of foam pipe lagging inside will give you space for 5 whistles. Only D’s though. Makes for a talking point in the sessions anyway.

Try Neoprene fabric, used not only for wetsuits but more and more for padded bags (cell phones, cameras, etc.). Actually, the fabric IS the padding, and is quite easy to stitch.
