Where's that video?

There was a video that came up once in the forum a few years ago of a man playing a walking stick flute (maybe by Martin Doyle, but I’m not sure). I think the tune was Paddy Mill’s fancy, and he played in a style that uses long breath pauses, giving the tune a particular effect. Can anyone find that video again? Denny?

Was it the one made by Eugene Lambe that Mark P. posted here?

Looks like the video is gone from Facebook.

Kirk

Was that the Tansey video?

No Kirk it wasn’t that one, I remember commenting that I wasn’t sure (at that time) that I liked those long pauses, and other comments followed.
dunnp I don’t remember Tansey to be the player, but maybe at that time I wasn’t so familiar with him and didn’t recognise him… I’d be surprised though

There wasa video out there of Tansey playing the Lambe walking stick flute but I can’t find it at the moment.

I’ve seen pics of Sam Murray playing a walking stick flute (http://www.murrayflutes.com/news-photos.html ) but no video.

Here’s the flute, anyway. In Eugene Lambe’s house, c. 1989…
Sorry you can’t see more of it. It’s a lovely thing.

Maybe this one ? (Flute starts about 2:20 in)

Thanks Steve, but it wasn’t that one. It was an indoor setting, maybe a pub, and a stronger player than Eugene (with all due respect…) with very good rhythm.

Got it, but the link is gone:

At least I’ve got a name… (Brendan?) Mulkere

Not the same player, but was the style similar to this?

Well, as far as I remember, in Mulkere’s playing the pauses were of greater effect and impact, maybe less frequent but a bit longer. I didn’t know what to think of them at that time, but nowdays if I think again of that video, I know it was just great.

Tried the Wayback Machine on the website you mentioned in the above thread but nothing popped…

Best wishes.
