Where'd The Home Page Go?

My normal favorites (sic) shortcut to C&F, http://www.chiffandfipple.com/ , seems to be taking me not to the normal home page but direct to the latest issue of the newsletter. Can anyone enlighten me as to why this has happened?

Perhaps it was uploaded with the name index.html, into the same folder as the homepage.

A fix seems to be under construction–I just clicked on it and got the menu for the site–after previously getting the newsletter.

Dale, buddy, did no one talk to you about file management practices? I put all my pictures and site graphics in an “images” subdirectory so I can find the blinkin’ html files without sorting through a bazillion files.

Oh!

Now it’s got Father Christmas, or somebody like that!

That’s twice you’ve referred to Father Christmas now Walden. I’ve never heard an American use the name before. In fact these days, even in England, you tend to get thought of as a bit of a crank if you use any name other than Santa.

Oh, you’re so right. This is one of the bad things about having a mammoth website that started 9 years ago, or whatever. I didn’t start by organizing it well and now the implications of moving all those files into neat folders and fixing all the links and so on … I just couldn’t do it.

The other problem I have is that probably a solid 1/3 of all of the files I have uploaded on to the server aren’t being used at present. But, I can’t figure out any simple way to find out which are and aren’t so that I can take the unused files down.

It’s a mess.

Dale

I shall add a picture of Father Christmas to my avatar.
