Over the past little while , I’ve come to find RTE Ceolnet (Radio Ireland’s archive of traditional music recordings) indispensable for learning tunes, especially for getting some good examples of real traditional-style playing.
However, a little while ago, I kept getting “site not found” when trying to search the database. And lately, when I try to do a search, it prompts me for a username & password!
Anybody know whats up with Ceolnet and if/when it will get back to normal?
Here’s the message I posted to RTE (the owners of ceolnet) on 7th August:
Please note that Ceolnet is broken.
Every 5 seconds I get a dialog box saying a runtime error has occurred in line 295 and it says “Error: Permission denied”.
I know I have the right software installed as I’ve used the website many times before without a problem.
Note that content appears to be streaming to my PC, but I get no sound.
About a week later the message changed. I now get:
Error: Line 291
Expected ‘;’
The site doesn’t make it very clear who to contact, as there’s no contact on the ceolnet site. However I did email the contact on the RTE website when I got the first error, but didn’t receive a reply.
