…so…
I went to the Rush concert last night, and it was fracking fantastic.
As a bass player I’ve always admired Geddy Lee, so I wasn’t going to pass up this opportunity.
I didn’t take my camera (but from row 14, what kind of shots would ya expect, eh?), but the Salt Lake Tribune did.
These photos come via the Trib:

Wow! Are they ever old looking! Did they play Take Off to the Great White North?

“Beauty, eh?”
I’ve been a major Rush fan since the late 70’s/early 80’s. Moving Pictures is definitely in my top 5 albums of all time.
I was sorry to hear that Neil Peart lost both his daughter and wife in a short period a few years ago, that’s why there was a large gap in their records.
Can Geddy still hit the high notes in 2112?

Geddy still hits the high register fairly well.
check out the r30 concert DVD if you haven’t already; that’s some cool stuff right there.
Dude, so are you!
it’s great to see these guys with so much fire and energy.
Here’s my current favorite bit of Geezer Rock

Yes “Awaken”
Jon Anderson looks so blissed out. (fast foreward about 1/3 of the way in, if the harp stuff doesn’t do anything for you )
I hit the big 5-0 in a couple of weeks. These guys make me realize I could be living so much more intensely than I do.
Geezer Rock
Love that term…but I’d call your link more like “mid-life crisis” rock…y’all ain’t quiet geezers just yet…
That’s exactly what I thought! Koo lu ku ku ku ku KUUUUU!!!
(sorry Tyler, back to your admiring thread…)

The Trib finally got around to publishing a review of the concert.

No one can ever accuse Rush of not giving fans their money’s worth.
Monday at Usana, the Canadian trio delivered a monster-sized set every bit as grand in scope and musically adventurous as the band’s 30-year back catalog, playing nearly 30 songs in two sets spread across three hours.
The show included everything a long-time Rush fan has come to expect. Geddy Lee provided entrancing bass lines and that love it-or-hate it howl. Neil Peart brought his propulsive rhythms, deadpan demeanor and unnecessary-but-entertaining drum solo. And guitarist Alex Lifeson spent the evening with a grin permanently attached to his face, clearly Photo Gallery

pleased to be playing for a near-full amphitheater and with one of rock’s best rhythm sections.
Ooooh, they’re coming here next week, but it’s at an outdoor pavilion. In Houston. In August.
Decisions, decisions.

Dude, you totally have to brave the heat.
The show is well worth it!
