980 Euro is about $1250

Notwithstanding the added features and improved characteristics such as > high-res LCD display or longer lasting Li-Ion Internal battery> , we shall maintain, for a period, the special launch price of 980 Euros (plus local taxes and registered delivery).-

:astonished:

Of all the midi controllers I’ve seen, I think this one is the coolest.

I dunno, for $1250, I’d rather get a good 1/2 set.

A good half set for $1250? :poke:
If you come up with it, I’ll buy it.

The downside with the real thing is that I can’t practice while I commute to work. Not more than once or twice at least, then they’ll through me of the bus
:swear:

Cheers!

For $1,250 I’d rather get a good B chanter.

Sorry, I mistyped/thought/brain-farted. Practice set was what I meant to say. (… and it is even Monday, sheesh…)

aww c’mon, you know you want it.

When compared to other MIDI instruments, the price on the vpipes is not that bad. I’d love to give 'em a go. If I were in a semi or non-trad band and was touring a lot and sharing the stage with drums and bass, this might be a great way to pull it off.

Or if you had a gig in Vegas or Colorado or something… they’d certainly work wherever you go… assuming your batteries were charged!

Schlawn bayz,

Padge.

Wonder if it plays in more than one key  … And mabye a drone sound of some sort with an on/off switch…

:poke:

Wow… if it has a drone switch, I’d be really interested, especially given how portable these are. But what the snap would I do with that huge pile of Donax sitting in my rafters then?
Dave

Did someone mention a marshmallow roast?

No way, man. I can think of a better application of $1250.00 than a fake, but electronic bagpipe chanter.

I think it’s a great idea. You can play anywhere, anytime… any key. It’s MIDI so you can go direct to a computer, through a sound module and add hundreds of other instrument sounds!

Bah, humbug.

Maybe we could get the union pipe lady to pose for them . . .

Oh no we don’t.

One member of the UP forum’s Swedish sister forum Piping.se reports that he saw the v-piper at a Galician piping competion in Ponferrada in april. He thinks the “ethusiastic pipers” are pipers and drummers from different Galician and Asturian pipe bands. The v-pipes sounded “fabulous”
and the maker, one Ramón M. Castro, was very helpful.

I thought that the v-pipes were a prank from the guys at Russian design&prank agency Lebedev, who have done stunts like this before. They made furore with a very slick computer keyboard last year that never touched the real world (But I would have liked to have one too)
