Jim is making great stuff these days. I have a chanter of his in Cocobolo, box, and brass that is absolutely splendid. Beautiful workmanship, great tuning and tone, and on my part very easy to reed (see thread https://forums.chiffandfipple.com/t/jim-carroll-chanter/70208/1).
I have only heard recordings of his drones, but must assume they also look and play nicely. I thoroughly recommend his pipes!

vPipes have not yet been shipped out from the manufacturer (mainly due to the volcano) …
i plan to do a full write up in the piper’s rev. when i get mine.
In the meantime, there’s going to be a comprehensive transcription of Willie Clancy in the new review. In the issue, a new bit of nomenclature for notating one of the most important elements of piping (yes, that’s a teaser) which has never been so easy to read (and understand until now), and yet so comprehensive.
There’s a plug for ye! SOooooo, if you don’t own the Clancy double CD “Gold Ring” and/or have a subscription… please embark, you most certainly will not regret it!

The dog ate my vPipes. No, it was a volcano. That’s it. There’s a volcano goin’ on!
its simple i have a reeal problem with my shoulder joints and the electronic pipes will give me chance to let them heal as i can set the preasure realy low on the bag arm and of course there are no bellows.
my bellows arm is in terrible condition due to old motorcycle injurys.

Well, as a person who sent their money off, I REALLY hope you’re totally wrong!!!
I know that the chanters were supposed to ship out right when the volcano blew, and their parts supplier couldn’t get their stuff to the lads in Spain.
I will send a letter to them now and see what I hear back from them.
I just got a note that they’ll be shipping shortly. I don’t know why people aren’t cutting them some slack. This is a completely new device and if we were basing our faith on estimated delivery dates uilleann pipes themselves would be vaporware considering how closely most makers stick to their schedules.
If they are a scam, I’d have to ask whey the heck anyone would go to such pains and create such an odd and elaborate scam aimed at the surliest people on the planet.

Well, ferris54 has tried to expose the vPipes as a scam all along on several forum threads, maybe also in other forums. I tried to reason with him first but the fact stands: He’s a troll, will never bend or apologize and I think moderators should do something about it. Get a life ferris54…
