Marvin Gaye has a long lists of hits. “Sexual Healing” wasn’t his greatest.
I was aware of Sinead O’Connor more from people putting her down. I must admit I never really listened to her stuff. I have listened/watched the suggested vids. I agree that she is pretty, but her music does not appeal to me at all. The bashing I heard was mostly about her personally, so I don’t know that that has any value, but certainly the bashing of her music seems justified to me.

Nothing Compares 2 U isn’t her music. It was written by somebody else.
Her best album (and I have many C&Fers agree with me here) is The Lion And The Cobra, which came out in the 1980s and was her first.

Indeed. She has expressed regret multiple times that that one song became so well-known, because often people know only that song and don’t realize she’s recorded hundreds and hundreds of other songs and has a career that’s spanned many decades. I agree, and I think it’s premature to hear Nothing Compares 2 U and write her off for it. It’s one of her songs I don’t particularly like that much.
I have an old 80’s compilation tape. I can remember most of the songs on it but one has me stumped. Maybe someone can give the artist or title.
The only words are “I dig you. Do you dig me? We dig each other. That’s groovy, oh yeah.”
I heard the intro used as a backing track to a traffic report once.

I don’t know about “hundreds of songs.” She’s recorded fewer than 10 albums I’m sure, and I think The Lion and the Cobra was in 1988 (good album!), which would make her career span less than two decades rather than “many decades.” As for Nothing Compares 2 U, I can understand that she doesn’t want it to be the only song people know, but it is very well done and nothing to be ashamed of; the one that’s really embarassing is Sean Nos Nua.

Has anyone seen the videos of Dee Dee after he left the Ramones and pursued a rapping career? No joke, called himself “Dee Dee King”. I haven’t checked to see if they’re on here… it may have been in the 90’s, I can’t remember.

Don’t be so sure. She has recorded around 10 albums that I know of (Lion and the Cobra, I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got, Universal Mother, Am I Not Your Girl?, Gospel Oak, Faith and Courage, Sean Nos Nua, Throw Down Your Arms, Collaborations, She Who Dwells In The Secret Place Of The Most High Shall Abide Under The Shadow Of The Almighty [a double disk/live set]), 3 live video collections, a whole bunch of collaborations and duets (besides the album called “Collaborations”), and she appears on lots of compilation CDs of various artists, and she has also released 2 best of collections. In addition, she did about a dozen (or more) trance/dance versions of Troy a couple years ago. Besides all this, most of her “singles” that she released in the 1990s had 4 or 5 songs on them. I wouldn’t doubt at all that she has hundreds of recordings. I don’t have a complete and numbered list, however, because, believe it or not, I do actually have a life. 
Anyway, when she retired for the second time, she released a special live recording of Nothing Compares 2 U and I like it better than the original one. It features low whistle (Overton) prominently.

At least they had Stray Cats and Joan Jett. Only one Pat Benatar song and far from one of her best. Surprisingly no Pretenders.

heck - I’m going to see Def Leppard / Journey in just a few weeks! (ok, ok, without Steve Perry, but what can you do??).
Saw Genesis. But really wasn’t “into” most of the bands of the 80’s.
I see they have Savatage and Metallica, and even Yngwie Malmsteen. They have Queensryche, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden. But no AC/DC? What gives? Did they not have any Videos in the 80s? Can you see where my early musical tastes were? 
I saw Def Leppard, too…but because my girlfriend wanted to see them.

Yeah, I was shocked not to see AC/DC on there either, which is why I didn’t list them, even though I did see them live. Another classic Rock band.
