Two vacation notices

First, may 17 - 24 my wife and I will be driving to Mansfield MO. We’ll be taking the backroads west from Michigan and spending the first night in or near Quincy IL. We’ll also be taking a short jaunt to Mountain View AR to go to the Dulcimer Shop.

Second, June 21 - 27 I’ll be driving to Cullowhee NC for Mountain Dulcimer Week. I’ll be leaving Saturday and probably staying somewhere south of Lexington, KY the first night. Unless I decide to drive straight through. Oh, Cranberry, I’ll be going right by Berea.

Any possiblity of visiting or getting together with anyone here? Even for coffee just to say hello?

traitor!! (private joke… )

And I feel horrible about it too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Cullowhee NC

Where in the heck is that?

I just tried to map it and came up blank…

just key it into Google and click maps

SE of Silva

It’s near Ashville. He’ll be on the campus of Western Carolina U.

Going from Knoxville take 40 toward Ashville. Get off on 74 west and follow the windy road to Sylvia and go left to the university.

..

You’re using the wrong mapper, cowtime. Here’s the Google map.
It’s at the tip of the state (what my friend calls “the armpit”). It is
only about an hour from the Susato workshop. I keep trying to find
an excuse to visit my brother at WCU so I can do the Susato tour.

..

Already got too many Floridians spending the summers there! lol

Or as the locals call 'em- Floridiots- 'cause they can’t seem to drive at normal speed on curvy hillside roads.

OK- now I see where this place is. Not too far from me-bout 2 1/2 hrs.

oops

I don’t have a car, but I think I might be able to meet up and just goof off if you want to (that’s what I’m good at). I’m not completely sure though. I’m PMing you.

You are supposed to slow down, right?

Not to a crawl…and you are suppose to stay on your side of the road on unmarked roads, particularly when rounding curves. :imp:

Whoa! This is getting way too complicated! :astonished:

djm

It gets more complicated when you don’t “git over” and you meet another car, or better yet, a “doolie” haulin’ a cattle trailer in one-a-them curves.

there’s also takin’ it real slow and careful on the one lane bridge at the bottom of the hill

while the trucker that just came over the hill is tryin’ to keep the engine at red line as he runs down the gears while tryin’ ta melt the brakes

Happens all the time.

A few mornin’s ago I was a- follerin’ a’line a vehicles down th’ hill goin’ ta work. Ther wuz a-awful smell mixed in with the fog and such that early in th’ mornin’. Come ta find out- the first truck in line’s brakes wuz on far(fire). That accounted fer the stink and th’ fog.

That was a true story.

so was mine…I was riding in the truck
