'Traditional Irish Music in America: The East Coast' CD

Can anyone comment if this CD is any good? Sounds like a great compilation of tunes. The amazon editorial review gives it a fairly pure-drop sort of feel, and judging by when most of the tunes were captured (mostly older musicians in te mid 70’s from the sounds of it), I’d believe that.

Any opinions welcome.

That’s entirely a matter of taste. I like it, but someone else might not. Go ahead and spend your money. This is one way to get an idea of what other musicians sound like if you know their names but not their music. There is a small collection of these CDs at www.rounder.com that goes with this one:

Together these should round out your collection of obscure, but interesting, recordings of ITM.

Yes I’ve heard this, its good all right. This one was the Mick Moloney
compilation. All the great East coast players.

The other one from Chicago

is the one done by LE McCullough back around the same time (looks like
fairly recently issued on cd), also a good one.
