Tony Dixon - Nice Chap!!

I picked up a new Aluminium-bodied Dixon today as well as a couple of standard tunables in C & D, a good day in itself but what made it better was that I collected them from Tonys workshop in North Devon & met the man himself!!

Seriously Tony is a really great guy who took time out to show me around his workshop & let me play with some of his whistles. I had a fab time & learned something of the art of whistle making.

If you’re reading this Tony thanks a lot for everything.

Oh yeah - the whistles are pretty good too!!!

About a year ago I got a Dixon that wasn’t too grand, told him, and he sent me another one, just like that, wouldn’t take shipping money or anything. It was the first piece of mail I ever got from England, so I saved it (the mailing tube).

You also don’t see Tony Dixon new development/sell of the month posts everywhere, either, which is something I admire a lot. His work is good enough to stand on it’s own.

Go Tony!!

I don’t do those either.

I had Tony Dixon make me a rosewood flute last year about this time. When I first contacted him by email we talked about everything else but flutes. It turned out we shared some similar interests and it was several emails before we got around to flutes. Well he made me a truely wounderful flute which I still charish though I have picked up more flutes and spent much more money on them then the one he made for me. Anyway we have kept up our email exchanges and I realy enjoy where his head is at. Super nice guy and artisan. Just one of the perks that goes along with playing whistle and flute and being a member of this wounderful group of interesting people.

Tom

Hi, Bob!

I believe we have a contender for the most self-controlled poster here. I believe one post per year by a three-year member is the current mark.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Don’t goad him, Jerry.
