Tommy Reck's Pipes

Are there any good photos of Tommy’s Kenna B Set floating around out there?
I have a couple of photos of Tommy playing the set but you can’t see the pipes all that well.

I found a post of mr Rietman 2003

Yeah, that’s the only other picture of his set I’ve seen posted anywhere.

There’s drawings of Reck’s set on the NPU source website that you can look at if you are a member.

Anyone know who has his set now?

Yeah, I have those drawings and would like photos to see details of the mounts, etc.

Tommy’s daughter has the set, Sheila I believe her name is. That picture is from the cover of an old issue of Treoir, showing Tommy helping some little kid to figure out how to finger the chanter.

Man those are nice pipes - all of them on that page. They don’t make 'em like that any more! Well not often.

They would if they used real Ivory! :smiling_imp:

I, too was curious where the Reck set was. Does she still play it?

There’s a great video on NPU’s The Source of Tommy Reck playing The Rambles of Kitty and Paddy Whack. You can get a really good look at his pipes in that clip. Lots of close ups. And it has the added advantage of being able to hear the pipes as well.

That is a really nice video! Those pipes were huge! Looks like he is using a different wind-cap than the one you see on the YouTubes…

Thanks, I’d forgotten about those videos. I was able to get a couple of screen shots. Not great but better than nothing.
