Now on the UilleannObsession site. Pat D’Arcy says they’re Leo’s own set, except for the chanter; but there seem to be some differences: the baritone drone slider is bent back toward the stock, like the bass. The tuning pins look to be made of that crappy plastic used on Highland pipes in the 50s, which turned orange after a while. It looks more like this set to me, except for the orange chanter.
Pat also wondered where I get all these LPs. Ebay!
During the early eighties in an unlikely place and co incidental way I literally bumped into Tommie’s son Sean. He played his father’s concert pitch set at the time and I am not sure it’s the same as the one in the picture [although there’s something in my mind that says ‘wasn’t it a Crowley’]. Anyway, at the time he said the set had undergone serious reconstruction after his father’s car failed to take a bend where the road did.
No no… Kevin Rowsomes own set made by Leo. Kevin has a silver coated stock now though. Maybe it’sa composite set? Kevin’s set originally had the ladder bass and baritone drones. Kevin took off the baritone one and just uses a straight section now.
Ebay… I commend your searching skills and eagle eye!
