I am looking for a teacher in the above. I am Scottish but living and working in Kolding, Denmark. Does anyone know of any teacher within an hour plus drive of Kolding, Denmark, who could keep me going with whistle and flute lessons, mainly Scottish, but some Irish as well.
Nope, but you should ask/ search around and see if there are any Scottish/ Irish musicians and/or sessions in the area. Go there and ask - mightn’t find a ‘teacher’ as such but could well be someone able to help informally.
Don’t know about Denmark, but there seems to be an active session scene going on in Kiel. I’m in Hamburg which is also quite active but a bit far away for you probably. (I’m Scottish too, but have been in Hamburg for “a while”
Chris.
Hi David - hope you are well. I have a friend in Copenhagen who might know of someone. I’ll ask him. [ No SC&T near you then ?
]
They’ve had me doing a flute class this year, and we’re about to start the summer term on Monday. I could record some of it for you if you like. Do you have mini-disc ? Not sure I have your address. Send me a PM via the site, if this might help.
Dear Kenny,
Great to hear from you. I’ve been whistling away on my own along with various CDs for about 2 years and it’s all getting a bit monotonous. I’m not very good at self-teaching - I need a teacher/mentor, whatever.
I had heard you were doing a flute class and wished I could have been there.
I was talking to someone in Aarhus who said that as far as traditional music goes, Kolding and this area is deid! I have a couple of other contacts I still have to try but I can’t believe there are absolutely nae teachers ava!
I don’t have a mini-player but could you put something on CD? That would be great. Also, what 6-hole wooden flute make would you recommend. I’ve seen one model raved about on the C and P web site and their only about 43 pounds each.
Address: David Hastie, Seest Bakke 44, 6000 Kolding, Denmark.
Hope all is well. I feel that I have lost quite a bit of dexterity and the ability to learn a tune because of not having a teacher so I’m fairly desperate. Hope something turns up soon.
Cheers, Kenny, and keep up all the good work.
David
