thinking of getting myself a...

you know…i’ve got a few lowDs by now, sound-wise my fav is the new-line chieftain lowD, but it has just a weeeee bit too much back pressure for me, might get used to it, we’ll see…anyway, I also have a mike burke Al-EZ low D, a great tooter, might be just a tad quiet, but it’s blowing quality is perfect for me…now…I’ve heard many good things about mike’s composite lowD, the tone apparantly being a bit more complex, now…how is it volume-wise?

should i get one?

Having looked through many threads concerning burkes, I think most people say that the composite is louder than brass or aluminum.
If it has a different design than the EZ that might not be the case, though.

Wheres that friendly Byll guy when you need him?

Volume-wise, it’s fairly quiet. That’s the only reason I sold mine in favor of a Copeland low D. Otherwise I loved it-- it just wouldn’t stand up to a largeish session. The composite had one thing I REALLY miss: it’s light weight. Even in low D size, the thing weighs practically nothing, which is more than I can say for my brass Copeland.

Hello Amar,
The Burke EZ low D has a very interesting sound from the one clip on Clips and Snips ,in jigs I believe. Why don’t you talk to Mike Burke, and see how he compares them, seeing that you have the Al version already.
Let us know what you decide to go for. I do like the tone of it-wish I had one to hear and play in person!

Yeah Get it- Ya only live once- costs alot less than being medicated for “Whistle Depression”. Go ahead I dare Ya
