Hi al,
I discovered two holes in my leather bag (L&M).
Both are near the base of where the blowpipe goes in to the bag.
Dont know how they got there;
but now I found them and should try to close it. Right?
So, how is this commonly done, and what do I need?

Do you mean the holes are in the seam, or around the base of the blowpipe itself where it ties into the bag? If its just around the blowpipe, you could remove it and retie it, or have your pipemaker do it for you.

they’re in the skin itself, not in the seam.
“My pipemaker” has retired somewhere in Spain, and I suspect the bagmakers (L&M) would not care much, since the holes must be due to weaknesses from attaching the blowpipe.
Maybe the blowpipe (other name for it?) must be re-tied, but I would not venture into that myself 
I also don’t think there is enough spare leather that it would be feasible.
Further suggestions? Something I could patch onto the bag with some luck?
Glue of some kind? Perhaps Mongolian Yak ear-goo would do the trick (if it was picked at full moon, of course…).

I had the same problem about a year ago,it was caused by a huge knot (used to tie in the blow pipe) that cut into the bag each time i put the blow pipe down flat to close up the case. A very kind pipemaker from Cork fixed the bag free of charge, he used a piece of bicycle tube to make a patch. This was only supposed to keep me going until i got a new bag,but i never got around to getting one. Anyway the patch is still holding up and there is no point getting a new bag now as my Gallagher 3/4 set will be ready for collection within 4 weeks.
