Ok, so my dad gave me his Walsh Shuttlepipes in A and I’m learning to play. Unfortunately, the rubber ring that connects the Canmore bag to the blowpipe has broken(presumeably due to age). A replacement bag from Walsh is roughly $140 bucks. I’ve done some searching and it still seems to be cheapest from the maker…but, I just thought I’d poke around in here to see if anyone can suggest a cheaper alternative.
p.s. I don’t have the time and equipment to make my own bag…thanks for looking.
Rubber certainly fails over time. Why not tie it in with waxed hemp?
I’d love to but, the design of the bag doesn’t allow it. The chanter and drone stocks can be tied-in but the blowpipe stock can only be done with the rubber seal. You see, the rubber ring is incorporated into the construction of the bag…it’s a synthetic bag made of Goretex. Black electrical tape won’t work either…lol
So replace the rubber ring?
the base of the ring is literally part of the bag. I even asked Walsh Bagpipes (the maker) and they told me my only option was a new bag.

Jason, your best bet is to get yerself a new Canmore bag, trying to repair those things is an exercise in the theater of the absurd. You may even want to look into getting a leather bag.
Having used a canmore bag on my GHBs, and having one blow up, I know where of I speak.
Please, folks, let us keep things Uilleann here, please, please, please.
Thanks.
