The NEW new Lunasa CD The Kinnitty Sessions

All I have to say is, go get it! It’s a great album and the energy is definately there too!

Lots of piping and harmony low whistles as well.

Eric

PS- Not only did I get this Cd today, but PJ Crotty’s ‘Happy to Meet’ along with M. Rafferty’s ‘The old fireside music’ came today too, what more could I ask for?!

Good to ear!

Lunasa is defenitly my favorite band!

But I have to say I was a bit desapointed about the sound of Redwood.

I bought it right at the show they gave here in Quebec City last summer and … simply the best show ever! But on this album, the arrangements are as good and sophisticated as usual but the sound is so quiet and soft that I believe it doesn’t have the power of all the others. Wich is sad. I hope they’re not going to a softer sound like Solas did…

So what about The Kinnitty Sessions?

Leo

I will say that although it is a live recording, you cant tell it by the sound of applause or conversation, but the energy is Definately there. The only comment would be how at the very ending, you can tell that the tune is ended and then ‘gated’ to get rid of any other sound, or at least it seems so to me. I have listened 3 times now, and love it. Much better than Redwood, and reminisent of the first 2 albums, even though I loved a few tunes from Redwood like ‘A Stor mo chroi/Stack of Rye’ .

Some killer whistle playing on here too. Sound quality is better than Redowood, and again, the energy!!!

Well, a live album form Lunasa must be good!

Thanks for reply Tradman!

Hi,

Just got the CD myself. I actually thought the sound on Redwood wasn’t that bad. Definitely not as good as the others, but ok. It could be worse. I have 2 Paddy Keenan albums, the “Brown Album” and Na Keen Affair. The Brown album was recorded in 1975 and relaeased on vinyl, the other made 20 years later, sounds like crap compared to the old one.

Oh, and just for the record, I think the Cillian Vallely’s solo air on the new Lunasa album kicks major behind!

I agree.Wonderful CD.I got mine a couple days ago at the Lunasa concert in Maryland, which was totally amazing.Afterwards they did signings,so I’ve got their autographs! Another cool thing was that Kevin Crawford asked me if I was a musician.I said yes,and he said “You look like a musician.” I don’t know if he just randomly asks people that,or maybe it was my awestruck stare,or what, but it was cool.

Cool Seisflute!

I also had the great chance to speak with all of them at the show here in Québec City last summer and they’re all really relaxe, cool, and looking for a chat. I just could’nt spoke with Kevin as much as I wanted but I had a good laught with Donogh the guitarist.

Big time!
