New Book

I’ve got ”Lunasa The Music 1996-2001” by Donogh Hennessy. It contains the music from the albums “Lunasa Live”, “Otherworld” and “Merry Sisters Of Fate”

I bought it from Donogh Hennessy last night at their concert in Wales

After travelling 6 hours in a van from Stanstead (London) they gave an outstanding performance, playing some tunes from their Redwood album out soon. Brilliant!

I particularly liked their version of The Last Pint. Instead of imparting the feeling of getting the last pint ‘before they shut’, their version is like watching a pint of Guinness being poured – very smooth.

If I didn’t need it to play me whistle, I’d give me right arm to be able to play like
Kevin Crawford, who also gave a superb manic solo performance on bodhran.
Go see them if you get the chance.

I’m now off to practice …

Hi

I ordered the book and it’s on it’s way-hopefully it will be good.

Agreed, Kevin is not only an unbelievable musician, he’s also having more fun doing it than anyone I’ve ever seen. “Manic” is a very good way to describe his bodhran solo. I didn’t think it was possible for someone to have that much fun! I also could not believe the kind of sound he was getting from the little-bitty bodhran. It could not have been any bigger than 12 inches diameter.

Next time they come this way, you can bet I’ll be one of the first in line, dragging a good number of my friends with me.
