Can anyone tell me where to find whistle tab for the theme song from the movie “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”? ![]()
It’s by Ennio Morricone, if that helps.
I think this is an appropriate time to suggest that playing by ear is a good thing. I’m guessing you already have this theme in your head. You’ll benefit more from learning by trial-and-error than from finding the dots. (I do read, BTW, but I’m in rehab).
I agree with crookedtune, but just in case you’re desperate:

Thanks, but I can’t get this large enough to read and I really need it in tab. (I’m just a beginner) ![]()
I’m just beginning to learn to play and I simply cannot find the tune without tab. ![]()
I strongly recommend that you, at a minimum, learn how to create your own tab from sheet music. This isn’t difficult. The whistle is such a simple instrument that there really is no good reason to employ tab at all.
On an instrument like a guitar or mandolin, etc., there can be many ways to play the same note, so it makes sense to have a method of specifying which. On a whistle, there is only one way to produce any given pitch. once you know the name (there are only 7 to choose from) of the note you’re looking for, you no longer have any need for tab.
The step is a trivial one, and there’s no reason to hide from it.
Ooh, I haven’t started a fight in a long time, and hope I don’t now, but…
I don’t quite agree that there is no good reason to employ tab. It can be a helpful transitional learning tool (when presented with musical score) for someone who hasn’t learned to read music. I have used music score with tab to help folks get started on whistle, and it works. Can you learn to play whistle without it? Sure. Can a kid learn to ride a bike without training wheels? Sure. Both can be helpful, to a point, though.
Yes, learn to play by ear, and yes, learn to read music (I do both).
The sheet music in the above link won’t help you if you are on a D whistle, and that particular page doesn’t show the whole song, anyway.
WhistlingPops, send me a PM if you aren’t the same person who e-mailed me at the Whistle and Squeak website.

Get an ocarina! They’re fun and, I belive, authentic for The Ugly theme. Might be wrong, but still get an ocarina.
…and it’s also in the wrong key as compared to the soundtrack.
The soundtrack starts in E minor, then modulates up to F minor, so keep your D and Eb whistles handy, and make the switch where appropriate.
Hopefully this helps.
