The Good News

Commercial poster? Not me!

Geez, Dale skips town for a few days and here starts the commercial posts.

Cute, Steve!

Chicken.

At least own up to it.

Isn’t Steve allowed an occasional commercial post like the rest of the makers/sellers?

I think yes he is! :stuck_out_tongue:

And the great thing about it is that he is giving away a FREE CD
with any SHANNA QUAY Purchase in November!

‘The Good News’ is the title of a new 4 track short CD by Tipperary flute, bodhrán and guitar player, Karl Nesbitt. It is a lovely blend of newly composed music and a strong traditional Irish flavour.

Find out about it here

Cheers,
Kathy

You’re pretty cute yourself, Jessie , but who’s the ugly bloke with you in the pic - and didn’t I buy him breakfast once?

Glad to see the nuptuals are still impending.

And, thank you Kathy!

I admit deleting my previous post (which I thought might be something people would like to see) after Sam jumped on it about 3 minutes after it was posted.

I also note Peter’s veiled (and totally unfair) comments about my prices - or perhaps he might have meant Custy’s? So much for trying to offer people a choice!

And, how ironic it is that board members who are actually looking for stores in Europe are being prevented from hearing about us by other members!

Take care,

Steve

Who’s Peter?

Steve, the nuptials aren’t impending…they’re done! We got married last month and are expecting a baby in April…if we had been decent people and hadn’t lost track of time in Ireland, the baby might have been conceived at your house! Nah, we would have been respectful.

In another thread I encouraged people to compare prices and make an informed choice

http://www.ossian.ie/whistles_details.elive?cart=106781668314245&sku=WH10053

http://www.shannaquay.com/item.jhtml?UCIDs=963379|1005858&PRID=882359

I don’t see what’s unfair about comparing prices. People have a choice and I am sure there are people who enjoy paying twice the price for the same item. That’s their choice.

Let’s leave it at that, please

(bleep)

I think every shop keeper is welcome to charge whatever they want. I don’t even object to making money off uninformed tourists whose money sits loosely. Certainly everyone is free to pay what they like. But I think just as we compare quality, looks, and sound of whistles, as well as service and reliability of makers & sellers, so we should compare prices. No body got his knickers tied in a knot when I talked about where to get a Kerry Low D cheaper than some place other.

Bail out! Bail out! Mayday! Mayday!
Please let’s not do this again.

Sorry Jim, I just can’t let Peter disparage my business without reply.

First of all Peter, you are misrepresenting the facts by:

  1. Quoting an out of date page from my website
  2. Not pointing out that my current price includes shipping and a pouch.
  3. Not realising that the boys at Ossian may be buying in bulk and therefore getting a better deal from the manufacturer.
I cannot buy the improved from Cillian for what they are selling it for. Have you ever tried buying food from a hypermarket and then filled your basket up with the same goods at the corner shop? Was it more or less expensive?
  4. You don’t mention that Shanna Quay offers free gifts with every order, and regular prize draws (the last one was won by a woman in Coatia today) either.
  5. Niether do you mention that Shanna Quay supports Irish music by presenting regular concerts and workshops with top names - some of them FREE to the public - and nearly always at a loss to the business.

For the record - and then I’ll leave it - I use a tried and tested consumer industry approved retail formula for pricing my goods. They are put on the shelves at whatever price I pay for them plus the valuation of that formula (which is between me and the rest of the industry). No more and no less. Which, strangely enough, makes me an honest retailer.

I’m sorry if the success of Shanna Quay (and it really IS becoming a success) is galling for some folks. But, all I can suggest is rather than bleat about it, they come into competition against me and close me down!

There are a couple (and it really is only one or two) people on this board who make me think that whistles might be a Freudian metaphor for ‘pacifiers’ (dummies). Whenever you take a pacifier out of a child’s mouth, they start yelling! keep on whistling guys!!

Steve

Steve, nothing against you or your store, but this is bad form. You can’t fight your way into people’s affections. You seem to be a little too touchy. Often it’s better to take the high road and leave the hell alone. If you hadn’t mentioned Peter a few replies back, the whole pricing issue wouldn’t have come back up. If you hadn’t reacted so quickly to Sam’s post, this negative thread wouldn’t have bloomed. Now i have an unfairly negative opinion of you and your business, which i’m sure is wrong.

hmmmm… never mind. Too many rocks starting to fly. Steve, Glauber speaks sooth - trust me on this. Glauber, Steve is one really nice man. You can take that to the bank, too. To quote somebody or other - “Can’t we all just get along?” :boggle:
Cheers,

Serp-Your quote is from Rodney King, the man badly beaten when down by LAPD and recorded on the well-known video-leading to civil unrest as well as the resignation of LA police chief Gates. Its a memorable quote.

It’s also said by Jack Nicholson as the President of the USA in the movie Mars Attacks.
