Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit
Blue Oyster Cult - Don’t fear the Reaper.

Slan,
D.

I was curious if most people would post the same songs for some of the bands. Because most “classic” rock stations only play one or two songs from a given band, over time people will begin to associate those songs with that band unless they were a fan of that group before.
I deliberately picked this pop-40 crap because it has a wider listening audience.

Ah..I get it now.
Very true though that outside of the hard core fan base most people will associate a band with the standard playlists of their local radio stations.
Shame really,so much good stuff goes unheard.

Slan,
D.

That’s the one! I knew it had a queen in it somewhere.

Boston: Something with high-pitched male voices and heavily processed guitars

Supertramp - ?

Led Zeppelin - Rock N Roll

Black Sabbath ?

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

Lynard Skynard - Sweet Home Alabama

Molly Hatchet - ?

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick

Styx - Mr. Roboto

Police - Dont stand so close to me

Talking Heads - And she was

Pretenders - Chain Gang

Stray Cats - ?

Rolling Stones - Satisfaction

Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit

Blue Oyster Cult- Dont fear the reaper

Same here. I recognize most of the group names, and looking at your answers I kind of recognize some titles, but I couldn’t put the two together.

Now if this had been a list of folk singers - for example: Peter, Paul, and Mary, John Denver, the Irish Rovers, Donovan, the Kingston Trio - or even older country-western like Marty Robbins or the Sons of the Pioneers – THOSE I could name!!

Boston - We built this city
Supertramp - The logical song
Led Zeppelin - stairway
Black Sabbath - crazy train
Queen - bohemian raphsody
Lynard Skynard - southern man
Molly Hatchet - uhm…
Jethro Tull - thick-as-a-brick
Styx - mr. roboto
Police - Every breath you take
Talking Heads - water-moving-under-over-whatever.
Pretenders. - standing-in-the-middle-of-the-road-with-my-past-behind-me
Stray Cats - stray cut strut
Rolling Stones - mother’s little helper
Jefferson Airplane - white rabbit
Blue Oyster Cult - imaginos

That should be ‘even if’ they were a fan before… in the past, I’ve had all kinds of
led zeppelin, black sabbath, jethro tull, police, and jefferson airplane albums (well,
mostly cassettes, see, that’s why ‘had’ is the operative word… ) But if you let the
collection sit on the shelf (or it gets eaten by malfunctioning cassette players and
you don’t replace it) the radio quickly fixes you back onto the one-or-two songs
that they play, at least as the first-association. As much as possible, I just don’t listen
to commercial radio anymore, but still, they play it everwhere, so you can’t just
-not- listen to it, unless you do all your shopping by mail order.

We built this city… was a Starship song I do believe.

Slan,
D.

Led Zepplin- Gallows Pole
Queen- Bohemian Rapsody
Jethro Tull- Skating Away
Police- Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Talking Heads-Once in a Lifetime
Stray Cats- Stray Cat Strut
Rolling Stones- Ruby Tuesday
Jefferson Airplane- Embryonic Journey
Blue Oyster Cult- Don’t Fear the Reaper- but I hear the skit from SNL “I need more cowbell!!!”

I did not answer for all since I’m terrible with tune names. I did not have anything come to mind for some, or, maybe it’s the fact that I never really liked anything those bands did enough to learn the name of any of their tunes?

Let it be known that the vast majority of these bands I was either not born yet or REALLLLLLLLY little for (just had to say that part  ) But here are my answers:

Boston - More than a feeling
Supertramp - ummm…gee…
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Black Sabbath - War Pigs
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Lynard Skynard _ Sweet Home Alabama
Molly Hatchet -dunno
Jethro Tull -ummmmm…let me think
Styx - Lady
Police - Syncronicity (sp? )
Talking Heads - Burning Down the House
Pretenders. - I hated the Pretenders so I have no idea
Stray Cats - Stray Cat Strut
Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit
Blue Oyster Cult - I have no idea, although I’m sure I’d know a song if I heard it

Cool topic to come out of lurkdom for, Flydood
