The Center for Irish Music, St. Paul, Minnesota

Has anybody worked with them? I have been in contact with them for a year and a half, through email and phone, trying to my dismay to get a private instructor for whistle. They have been kind, but they seem very disorganized. Most of the time my emails are not responded to at all, or if they are, no follow up is ever done. I have been meaning to post here about this for some time, but I don’t like stepping on toes and would not like to alienate the one place in MN that offers lessons. I have looked for other places with whistle instructors in Minnesota, but have yet to find anywhere else. They offer group lessons that can be registered for online, but as I have been playing for about 2 years (since my trip to Kerry County), I feel a rank beginner group lesson is not what I am looking for.

Is this par for the course with the center, or atypical from your experiences? Does anybody know anywhere else to get private whistle lessons in MN or should I just continue with the Mel Bay books/cds and soldier on alone?

Check yer PMs.

I know Laura McKenzie in Northfield MN teaches there occasionally. I’m taking lessons with her soon at home.

Wow, you C&F forumers move fast! Looks like I have a few different avenues to pursue. PM has been checked, thanks a million Nanohedron. I myself am in Apple Valley, about midway between St. Paul and Northfield. Madman, thanks for the suggestion. I will pursue Nano’s lead first and keep the forums informed.

Thanks All!

So we’ve been told. No decaf around here, I guess.
