I recently had the opportunity to meet Casey. Seems that a folk flute i purchased was in need of a bit of repair to the head joint. I sent Casey an e-mail asking about prices and time frames and such… he replied almost immediately. on learning that he was only an hour’s drive away, i asked if it would be alright if i were to bring the flute to him while conducting some other business in the area. he readily agreed.
when i arrived, Casey was one of the most gracious hosts i’ve ever met. he examined my flute, asked if i would mind leaving it for a few days so he could make the necessary repairs and then send it to me.
then, Casey gave me a tour of his shop. he showed me some of the flutes he currently has in work… some ideas for flutes yet to be… brand new blackwood that he had just acquired… shared some insight into the making of a flute. gave me some ideas for a flute i’m working on… all in all, it was a wonderful experience.
out of respect for a business tranaction, i will not quote the prices, nor all the wonderful things Casey did.but what i got back was a brand new flute!
this is not the first time i’ve had a wonderful experience working with the makers of flutes and whistles here at C & F… i’m sure it will not be the last. what a truly great group of people we have here.
to each of the artisans here, thank you for your inspiring work. to Casey, in particular. Sir, i am in your debt. i cannot thank you enough for your kindness, your graciousness, and your amazing work.
be well,
jim
