Did you mean a set of Taylor pipes? No owner of Taylor pipes ever called them ‘uilleann’.
yea taylor pipes, some like 30 were made, just wondrn how mny there ar here, they got the best drones
Out of curiosity, does anybody know how many sets were made by the Taylor brothers? Is thirty a correct number? It has been a long time ‘pipe dream’ of mine to own a set of Taylor Pipes… there’s just something about their look and tone that grips me hard. ![]()
bout 30 i thk more, heres a site with a list of 29 owners, most of them bbought there sets fer lbout 500$ less, becuase most the set were found in an attic or somthing http://web.telia.com/~u46103557/taylor.html
now about if u bought a set for som1 who knew the price they’d be round $16,000-$10,000
BTW, I mean I read somewhwere (dunno where anymore) that the Taylors weren´t brothers but cousins. However, I am by no means sure about this. I trust somebody can clarify this?
Best,
Hans
Funny thing, if you go to - http://web.telia.com/~u46103557/taylor.html - mentioned above by Paddy Finn, then click to save under favorites, the title “Taylor uilleann pipes” automatically appears. This would have been a default set up by the owner.

They were step brothers. The maker and genius was William 'Billy" Taylor. Charlie assisted.

I believe that’s wrong. Charles Taylor was the engineer and craftsman “the main man”, whilst Billy Taylor was the musician of the two, said to be a very good piper, although he certainly helped out in the workshop and they both probably discussed ideas and solutions.

When I was growing up, the local barber shop was known as the Sheedy Brothers. As barbers the ‘brothers’ were cheap and gave good haircuts, as long as you didn’t mind having your ears fondled!!
The Sheedy ‘Brothers’ didn’t look like brothers - absolutely no family resemblence, but they did live in the same house and never married.
Ah, the innocence of youth!!
hmmmm ok, two blokes living in america who live in the same house…call the selfs ‘brothers’ but arnt black… i think somethings up here. just better hope the lost uilleann of theres isnt pink or anything…
