Syn Whistles FT

Hi,

So a while back I needed a C whistle and based on recommendations from here I ended up getting a Syn D/C set. They are very nice whistles, but after a few months I’m realizing that it’s not really my sound. When I’m alone I always reach for my beat up, battered, bent old brass Generation C instead of the Syn. However, I need something that is not bent and firmly un-tunable. I’ve tried loosening the head with hot water, but no luck so far. So, on the off chance that someone has a nicely tweaked Generation C sitting around, and you want to try a purer, nicely made aluminum whistle, we should talk. Send me an email at corey dot m dot walters at gmail dot com.

Thanks a lot,

Corey

Sorry, I thought the syn C had a pretty pure sound! It might have a little metalic buzz though that doesn’t agree with you.

The Sindt C is quite a bit mellower and darker. I wouldn’t call it pure…maybe more traditional.

I think there’s a used Burke C on the Irish Flute store website for 150$

Other options are a Humphrey or Reyburn C for about 100-110$ The Humphrey would be the purer of the two!

I am afraid you would have to try out a few to find what you want!

Hmm. maybe a Freeman tweeked C or a Dixon plastic C might not be so metalic sounding!

Good luck,

Nate
