Swapping head on Freeman Mellow Dog D/C set?

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Just a dumb question on the Freeman Mellow Dog D and C set I recently got – how do you remove the head from the D whistle and put it on the C? Is it just brute force, or is there a specific way to do it?

Thanks!

I remember having similar issues with this set. Mr Freeman insisted that it should be easy, but it was not on mine. Try placing your fingers around the part that goes over the tube and gently pull by twisting away. If you need more friction, use a cloth.
If all else fails, you can also heat the fipple part (hot water, not boiling) and put the tube part in something cold (I used ice cubes for mine). Just don’t go to extremes with this method (the plastic is rather fragile) and it should come off nicely. No problems afterwards, either. Good luck and let us know how it went!

I’ll try that. Thanks!

If you have trouble keeping a grip while twisting, it works really well if you use a small piece of rubbery kitchen shelf/drawer liner in each hand. Some people have thin grippy pieces of rubber or vinyl that are sold for opening stubborn jar lids. Maybe it goes without saying, but never use anything that might damage or crush the head though- don’t use pliers or a wrench for example.

I’ve actually just wrapped rubber bands around stuck jar lids to get a better grip – works every time. I might try that here. Thanks!
