Okay folks its May 16 and many are doubtless planning summer vacations.
I have a fun favor to ask. Please get pictures of yourself playing whistles at famous vacation spots this year (you know, like at the edge of the Grand Canyon or something).
Then post em for everybody’s enjoyment.
Don’t ask me how because I don’t know but everybody else seems to be able to post flamin’ smilies, whistle close-ups and Scottish vacation pix.
At the least, you’ll have cool shots for your own albums. At best, we can have a wide variety of interesting shots.
Okay. . .seeing that vacation starts as soon as I walk out this door (45 minutes!). . .
Slainte!
StevePowers. . .see ya on Saturday! Dave, you’re Doolin will see a bit of the countryside before we wing it back to the states. Bloo, hold down the fort and make sure they tip a glass for me at session!
hehe good idea! But no uhaul, just a station wagon. It will require some thought as I am not about to hand my camera over to a stranger while I play.. But I’ll see what I can do!
I see your point. I guess a throw-away camera and scan is a bit much but its a cheap solution in general for that situation.
But if you think that’s scary ponder this: I am planning on posing by standing on this granite rock outside of the snow shed at Donner Summit. With an easterly wind always blowing I have to conquer my fear of falling 1,000 feet by turning my back!!
I swear I end up on my hands and knees after about 30 seconds on that rock!
Yeah, I hear you Bloomfield yelling JUMP JUMP!!!

To Tony Higgins:
I’m so 12 months ago! Oh well, everybody get pictures like Tony’s! That’s the ticket!
Special request: Niagara Falls. Referring to the bearded miners he saw around Gold Country, Mark Twain wrote that in the mines, a barber was about as useful as a tinwhistle at Niagara Falls! Now there’s a whistle reference not normally found in books about trad!
Bon Voyage!
hey Elf:
I heard Idaho is beautiful anyway! Go to the nearest badland or something or find a 50ft tall Bob’s Big Boy statue! Pose in front of “Mom’s” (you know, never eat at a place called Moms)…
Just a summer thought…
Oh, Idaho IS beatiful! I just don’t know exactly what my plans are yet… all I know is that there’s a family vacation planned for June…
But I’ll most likely take some pics. Probably out by my “spot” in the pasture…(a rock in a grove of Locust Trees on a hill with a stream at the bottom…) or something…
It’s whether or not I can round up a scanner…
