Stuff and Nonsense

Mr. Coulter should be sent to Siberia…I saw this on the local PBS television station as part of their fund raiser.

I guess, he can do what he likes with his own songs, but, orchestrated versions of “Raggle Taggle Gypsy”, “The Island”, “Ride On”…
:swear:

Thank God “Spancill Hill” escaped.

Odd that “Puppy Love” did not.

Nyuk! This is the kind of stuff I trot out whenever folks start talking about the REALLY BAD bluegrass and country music that sells so well on this side of the pond. Different strokes, I guess…

Yet another nail in the coffin of the word “Celtic” in today’ parlance. Man, I am starting to think it’s a codeword for something that’s gonna piss me off.

Celtic Chunder is more like it.

Have ya seen it?

My eyes and ears retreated so far back into my head I could see and hear my medulla oblongata.

Here is a shot from the “Oy! You there, drop yur trousers like me!” number.

Its a real crowd pleaser.

If you’re not into the folksinger thing, you could try Bowfire…

Heh. Apt name.

The ads were enough to keep me away. I don’t think I would’ve survived watching the entire show.

What is the target demographic? Was the audience comprised entirely of those unable to run away?

Unfortunately, I had to sit through the aforementioned tunes. I couldn’t stomach it after that…

And the worse of it was, I lost an arguement with my wife on where it was made.
I said–definitely in the US, we Irish may destroy decent C&W songs but we would NEVER do that to OUR own stuff.

I bet t’will show up in Celtic Thunder II!

Considering the state of modern “country” music I don’t think you could do much to harm it.
