Story or not???

Peter’s response to Sean Dempsey started me thinking about stories I had read about pipes in the past. Such as, pipe set was buried with the piper and the wife disinterred the body to get to the pipes. Story or not?

Anyone else have anymore for the camp fire???

A good year to all!

…and every year, on the anniversy of his death you can hear the hissing of his and the voice of his ghost exclaims "where’s me bloody pipes?"

I believe this story first came to light when people were shocked to hear the piper’s elbow banging against the inside of the coffin. The pipes were removed to permit the wake to proceed without further incident, and the wife was too hung over to remember to replace them before the interment. This lead certain parties from the piper’s family to exclaim that she had done it deliberately in order to sell the pipes. No-one ventured to ask why the piper was being buried when his elbow was still working. :stuck_out_tongue:

I remember hearing about the guy who took ‘liver salts’ every day of his life for 60 years and after he died they had to beat his liver to death with a stick…

Nothing about elbows though
