Staple for a hughes and macleod chanter?

Hi board,

Reeding up one of these for a mate. I’ve got good tone/response and lower 8ve tuning just with 50mm hobby tube but i’m thinking there’s a better solution for the top octave. Poor e, sharp top b etc etc.

So before i start trying to re-invent the wheel i thought i’d ask on here!!

Anyone got any rolled staple dimensions for one of these chanters?

Cheers

Aye true enough Ferg but no staple dimensions unfortunately!!!

I have a Hughes chanter and the staple dimensions he gave me (for a rolled staple) are 14mm X 1 7/8". This seems to work well.

There is no taper in the staple blank and I think that this is the same in the staples that he sent me.

He is now using tubing when I visited with him two years ago.

Awesome, thanks. I’ll give that a go.
