St. Patricks day in New York City?

I just read this from the MSN travel site on 10 things “not” to do in New York City.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade

On March 17, packs of suburban teenagers (with cases of beer between them) begin arriving early via the Long Island Rail Road, Metro North, or New Jersey Transit. By the time the parade kicks off, they—along with a few off-duty policemen—are sloshed. And even before the parade ends, the fights begin and the vomit flows as freely as the beer did earlier. The pubs are packed, and the already-high price of drinks gets even higher. If you truly yearn for a bit of the Irish on this day, for your own good, stay home and > watch The Quiet Man or listen to the Irish Tenors sing “Danny Boy.” >

So I guess to really appreciate the Irish theme all I need to do is watch The Quiet Man and listen do Danny boy. Cool. That’s easy.

I love nothing more than seeing people attempting to convince everyone that they know the “real” Ireland expose themselves as morons.

I find myself hiding on St. Patrick’s day just because it is the one time my little town gets crowded.

For some reason I feel obligated to participate because I’m into the music, but then I figure I do enough the rest of the year that I can take a break that weekend.

Tho I might stop by the AOH hall to cash in on a few free beer tokens I earned last time I played there.
